Wow! We also got a couple interviews going on now, alot of users commented on the project, I saw great comments from people in china, which are really happy to discuss this topic.
The LA Times bloged a cool article about it, Top Story of the Germany News Agency ddp yesterday, Top Digg Security Story, some solid german computer websites, Fox Online News, the German underground Gulli.com and… whatever, it’s awesome! So many great user comments, it’s such a scary and interesting topic, so many interesting experiences on the censorship in China.
Btw, here’s my video message, that Evan played during his talk in Hong Kong last Sunday:
The Firefox add-on China Channel offers internet users outside of China the ability to surf the web as if they were inside mainland China. Take an unforgetable virtual trip to China and experience the technical expertise of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (supported by western companies). It’s open source, free and easy.
Watch the fffffat screencast:
This project is currently exhibited at the “Videotage” in Hong Kong (6.10.-4.11.2008)
Two computers are connected to a single keyboard and mouse allowing visitors to control both identical machines at the same time while using just a single input device. The only difference between the two internet terminals is their network connection; one machine is connected to the less restricted internet in Hong Kong, while the other is connected to the internet through a connection point in the mainland of China.
I recently made this gif for the “NO CHAT JUST PICTURES” evening @ Piet Zwart Institute It is a collection of “accidental cell phone pix”
My plane count is 14 this year, but people like Zach, Evan or Aram fly like 5 times more, I don’t really understand how that is possible… Evan was doing his latest works directly on airplanes.
Since I got myslef into this whole Firefox Add-on thing, I was lucky to collabarate with Evan Roth, Aram Bartholl, Jamie Wilkinson and Michael Auger on a project for the “Videotage” in Hong Kong. The whole installation will be exhibited there for one month, opening is tomorrow. I did the add-on hacking, and I’m still on it. The Add-on will be available for the public soon.
